Lubuntu 20.04 default desktop is LXQT, which is pretty nice and slick, but I face a few presistent ptoblems running it on VirtualBox
- Ocassional mouse click is not working on certain part of the screen (problem resolved by logout/restart the Window Manager)
- Ocassional the Window Manager crashed and restarted, so I lost all the opened windows
I am not sure if this is a VirtualBox or LXQT issues, so I decide to experiment by installing another Desktop.
I prefer a lightweight desktop, so Mate is one of them (optionally you can try Xfce).
Follow the installation guide on Ubuntu - Vanilla Mate
Install Mate
This will install the base packages required for a minimal MATE desktop
sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-environment-coreThis will install the complete MATE desktop
sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-environmentThis will install the complete MATE desktop including a few extras (Most Users Will Want This)
sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-environment-extrasTo switch to Mate Desktop, just logout and login again (select Mate as the desktop session).
