Ubuntu Downgrade Google Chrome

Jan 9, 2020

There is the bug with Chrome 79 which makes it very unusable on Ubuntu.

Find previous chrome version at https://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/google_chrome/stable/main/base/google-chrome-stable.

sudo wget http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/pool/main/g/google-chrome-stable/google-chrome-stable_78.0.3904.108-1_amd64.deb && \sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_78.0.3904.108-1_amd64.deb

NOTE: I use version 78.0.3904.108-1 before the bug appeared.

To prevent package update, use

sudo apt-mark hold google-chrome-stable

NOTE: To enable later use sudo apt-mark unhold google-chrome-stable

Check Chrome version

google-chrome-stable --version
